My baby boy is 1 month old! I can't believe how fast time really does go. Everyone says it will, but it really does. I took pictures over the weekend in his 1 month onsie because my parents lawn looked so nice, but today is actually 1 month. Here are some pictures to celebrate!
We spent a long weekend in Pontiac for a family funeral which was no fun, but we did get to spend lots of time with family so that was great. Rowan got to meet almost all of his great aunts and uncles, and lots of his second cousins. He also got to meet his great grandma who was very excited to meet him.
Ryan and I actually did not spend a whole lot of time with Rowan since he was passed around all weekend, but that was okay because we all got to spend time with family.
This was our first long road trip and Rowan did great. He slept pretty much the whole time both ways. It was different for us though to plan the stops so I could feed him and we could eat. We usually only stop once on the 6 hour trip, but this time we stopped 2 times to feed and stretch. I feel so bad for Rowan in his car seat cause his head just flops over and we can't find a good way to hold it up. We took turns sitting in the back holding it for him some of the time cause we felt so bad! Scarlet got to go on the trip with us and her new favorite thing to do in the car is sleep in the car seat with Rowan. It was super cute!
I had my first funny mommy mistake on our drive to Pontiac. We had stopped to eat and when we were done I went out to the car to feed Rowan. He wasn't interested so I decided to change his diaper to wake him up a bit. Instead of putting him on the seat I thought I could just lay him in my lap and do it. Big mistake! As I was wiping he decided to pee and then poop! Luckily I had put a blanket on my lap before we started, but it wasn't very thick. I had a puddle of pee and runny poo on my lap and I was still trying to clean him up. Luckily Rowan wasn't screaming like he usually does when he gets changed because I was getting frazzled! Ryan finally came out to the car and grabbed the blanket and we got it all figured out. Lesson learned: never try and change a diaper on your lap in a small car!
We have not been back to the doctor since he was 2 weeks so I'm not sure his exact statistics, but I think he weighs around 81/2lbs and he looks longer to me. Some of his newborn clothes are starting to get pretty snug and we have started adding in the 0-3 month stuff. We go back to the doctor on June 26th for his 2 month appt. His hair looks like it might stay red which is pretty awesome! He is eating well. We struggled a little bit the first 2 1/2 weeks with latching but I think we have it figured out for the most part. He has been eating every 3-4 hours since we brought him home. He is an excellent sleeper and has slept anywhere from 3-6 hours at a time from the time we brought him home as well. He usually sleeps 3 hours at a time during the day and 4-6 hours throughout the night. He scheduled himself pretty quickly which was good. So far he is a very chill and relaxed baby. Hopefully he stays that way! He hates taking a bath but hopefully he will get more used to that as we do it more often.
Ryan and I love him to death and can't wait to watch him grow and develop his own personality! I'm sure he'll be a character!

It does go so fast! My baby is turning one and it feels like it was just yesterday! Have you guys tried rolling up and blanket and putting it around his "head holder" in the carseat? We had to do that because Owen's held flopped all around too. Sorry to hear about your Uncle, but I'm sure Rowan helped raise everyone's spirits a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Owen is going to be one! That is crazy! We tried using burp clothes on either side, but haven't tried a whole blanket all the way around. We will have to give that one a shot. Thanks for the idea! Rowan was very helpful in keeping everyone's minds off the situation, babies really are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! :)
